Visit to the Bodleian Library, Oxford: 18 January 2017

On Wednesday 18 January 2017, 30 members of the Barbers’ Company ventured to Oxford for the first Barbers’ Outing of 2017, as arranged and facilitated by the Master, Professor James Carley.  The morning was spent visiting the Bodleian Library, courtesy of the Bodleian librarian, Richard Ovenden, a Freeman of the Company, with an opportunity to inspect some of the rare manuscripts and books held there.  Lunch was then taken at Christ Church, courtesy of the Dean, the Very Reverend Professor Martyn Percy, another Freeman of the Company.  The afternoon was then spent visiting the Museum of the History of Science, followed by Evensong at Christ Church for those who wished to attend.
