City in Bloom Awards 2016

Middle Warden Tim Cutler, The Honorary Curator of the Physic Garden, Deputy Master Geoffrey Preston, Renter Warden Malcolm Roberts, Assistant Peter Fabricius and Maurice, the Corporation’s gardener, celebrate winning a gold award in the small garden category in the City in Bloom 2016 competition. A gold award equates to the RHS category “Outstanding”.   Here is the judges’ feedback:

“Beautifully maintained and curated garden with a mixture of quotidien and exotic medicinal plants.  Lots of interest and structure with both tall architectural plants and nectar-rich flowers providing good forage for pollinators.  Enjoyment for visitors might be enhanced by a more general information or interpretation board to complement the excellent plant labels.  The garden might also be enhanced by a small bird bath for little garden birds.  Altogether a delightful oasis, tucked away in the old City walls”.
