Liveryman Stephen Carroll and student Kavi Patel will be running in the London Marathon on 24 April 2016 to raise money for the Barbers’ Company’s General Charities. They would be very grateful for your sponsorship.
Having previously run the New York Marathon in 2000 and a number of London Marathons prior to that, Stephen felt up to the challenge issued by the Clerk and immediately volunteered his services to run in the 2016 London Marathon, little knowing that he would be successful! As many of you will remember, Stephen was the OC of 144 Parachute Medical Squadron when they were successfully affiliated to the Company in 2004 and subsequently became a Freeman and Liveryman of the Company. Stephen, who specialises in sustainability, health and safety and business continuity, travels extensively visiting his clients but has already managed to find and dust down his training shoes (in fact he has splashed out on a new pair!) and has started training in earnest, managing to clock up approximately 30 miles a week. Stephen looks forward to embracing this challenge on behalf of the Company and hopes that along with members of the Company, his friends and colleagues will assist in supporting this very worthwhile cause.

Kavi is reading Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent as well studying for the ACA qualification. Having approached us with an offer to run the Marathon for our Charities, he is responsible for us being allocated places in the 2016 Run. He has previously raised money for a school in Nepal, and became aware of the Barbers’ Company’s support for schools in London as well as for medical training. He hopes he will get lots of encouragement and sponsorship from members of the Barbers’ Company, as well as from his family and friends.
