Round the Islands Challenge Race : 20 August 2016

Round 1

The Barbers’ Cutter – with a scratch crew – posted the fastest time in the Round the Islands Challenge Race, held at Richmond on Saturday 20 August, thereby retaining the title which they also won on its inaugural running last year.  In addition to winning the trophy for the fastest time, after allowing for handicapping, the crew were placed 2nd male crew (even though we had a female stroke).   Conditions were very challenging, with strong tides and high winds.  Well done the crew, which included Liverymen Tom Lee and Simon O’Leary, plus Tom’s son Oli and an assortment of volunteers from the Richmond Bridge Boat Club (the organisers of the race).
