An annual Inter-Livery Skiing Competition takes place in Morzine in the heart of the Portes du Soleil in the northern Alps. The Company likes to enter a team, but the emphasis of the week is not really about the competition - rather it is about good company, good hospitality and good skiing.
2019
Who knew that it would take such inspired leadership from none less than The Master (Tim Cutler) for the Barbers' Company Ski Team to win medals! Well, one medal. And we think the criterion by which it was won had something to do with the oldest serving Master with a pulse able to get down the race course without assistance from paramedics - but let's not let a good story get in the way of the truth....
2020
And in 2020, with a new Master (Malcolm Roberts) leading - morally at least, as he supported with snow boots on rather than skis - the race-honed team of elite Barber skiists earned an amazing haul of medals to add to the previous year’s haul of one. Once again, age, persistence and brave teamwork saw medals for the competition’s most successful Court team. Wonders never cease! Annemeike Cunningham also won an individual medal but vowed that this would be her final competitive season – retiring at the peak of her game. All very wise!
